Queso Firewall and VPN Server
I'm interested in getting a Cisco PIX 501, which is a little itty bitty box that serves as a hardware firewall and as a virtual private networking (VPN) server. The motivation for getting it is twofold: to help protect my home network (on which a few internet servers, including MetaFilter and Q Daily News, run) while allowing me and Matt Haughey to securely connect to the network and administer everything, and to see how well this cool little toy called dropcash works. And since I've been using Cisco's operating system since the day I started playing with networking hardware more than a decade ago, I'd love to make the new box a Cisco!

Thanks for providing MeFi a home!
Sent $10 your way. Thanks for your support of MeFi!
My pleasure; if nothing else, it's given me a reason to keep my home network security top-notch, and this is a step in that direction! (Well, it's also given me the power to control the angst of thousands of people just by having a "JRun error" HTML page that I can throw onto the home page whenever I feel like it, but we won't talk about that...)
Yay! 100%! I'll be expecting a scratch & sniff sticker phot, any day now...LOL!
Congrats!
Congratulations! I am still wondering how ever this could work, but you prove it :-)
So, there is hope for my mum! Thanks!
