Said the Gramophone 2006 Funding Drive

This is the Said the Gramophone 2006 funding drive. We are trying to raise $279. This is not money for fur coats, CDs or airfare - it's just what it costs to pay the people whose computers Said the Gramophone relies on to stay online.

Here's how it breaks down:
Annual website hosting costs: $120
Annual mp3 hosting costs (Canadian .Mac account): $138
Misc website services and PayPal Fees: $21
TOTAL: $279 USD

Some reasons to donate:
+ Every weekday, we write from our hearts about the music we love.
+ Said the Gramophone is advertising free, and will stay that way.
+ Dan and Jordan do not have jobs.
+ Sean's job is not very good, and he would like to quit it so he can work on his novel.
+ You won't be paying us anyhow - you'll be paying the men with beards and servers. Sean will have to keep working and Dan and Jordan will have to get off their sorry asses. So ignore the above two bullets.
+ It would mean a lot to us.
+ We are offering gifts.

"What's that?" you say. Your eyes light up. "Giiiifts?"
Why, yes.

Gifts to donators:
$0.01-$9.99: receive our thanks.
$10.00+: Dan will write a very short, sad story about you. The more you donate, the sadder the story will be. These will be posted on Said the Gramophone for everyone to enjoy, and to weep at.
$20.00-$34.99: receive a handwritten postcard from Sean.
$35+: Jordan will record a short song using only the donor's name as lyrics and only Portuguese guitar or mandolin as instrument. You will also receive a postcard.

Other things:
1. If you cannot afford to donate, we understand.
2. Please know that every comment that's left on the blog, every email we receive, every kind word - they're all truly appreciated.
2. If you are a member of Dan, Jordan or Sean's family, please do not donate. That would simply be embarrassing. We know that you love us.
3. If you are the Canadian ambassador to a western European country, please do not donate. See #2.
4. For reasons of convenience, we are only accepting PayPal payments at this time. If you don't have a PayPal account and don't want to sign up for one, we understand.
