Shipping Goods For Tsunami Reconstruction
Sponsor: Ray Brosseuk
Since 1995 my wife and I have collected over a million pounds of goods and sent them overseas into places like Fiji, Kiribati, Solomon's and Grenada.
We usually go to the Islands ourselves and personally distribute the items into rural villages, orphanages, hospitals ect. We do this to make sure that the iteams get into the hands of the people who need it most.
We are very fortunate that our business life allows us to do this both in time and usually money.
As some of you may know we were just given over 70,000 lbs of nails that we want to ship. Due to the amount of iteams donated to us lately, it will take more than 5 contaniers before our warehouse is emptied, this will put a bit of a strain on our personal finances as each container cost more than $5,000 to ship.
We are starting to work on our first container this year, hopefully to be shipped in March.
It will consist of things such as:
200 boxes of nails 10,000 lbs
200 bails of clothes 20,000 lbs
Miscellaneous stuff 12,000 lbs
The miscellaneous stuff consist of 100's of new rubber boots, 1000's of new women's nylons, new frying pans, new women's makeup purses, shoes, Wheelchairs, Walkers, crutches, hospital beds, dehydrated vegetable soup mix, children's storybooks, and more.
